This "Beaming" Sound Device Plays Music Right In Your Head, No Headphones Needed Liana Ruppert There is a new "sound beaming" device that allows users to listen to music without a single headphone in sight. While this may sound like the start of a sci-fi horror film about mind control (or a Doctor Who episode), the logistics of this creative device does sound intriguing. And a little mind-melty.  The latest in futuristic audio technology comes by way of Noveto Systems, a company hailing from Israel. On Friday, the company is poised to debut its prototype to the world, a desktop device that is designed to "beam" sound directly from the device in question, directly into the ears of the listener.  Called SoundBeamer 1.0, this device offers a 3D sound experience that fills the auditory senses wholly: front, sides, behind...you name it. According to the company, a major factor behind this device's creation is productivity and convenience, citing that office workers will be able to listen to their favorite music tracks, podcasts, and more without disturbing a single colleague around them.  Noveto also says that because this device allows for its "beaming" sound technology to be internal rather than external via headphones, the user can still hear outside sounds perfectly without obstruction. According to AP News, who had an exclusive demo with this product, "The technology uses a 3-D sensing module and locates and tracks the ear position sending audio via ultrasonic waves to create sound pockets by the user’s ears. Sound can be heard in stereo or a spatial 3-D mode that creates 360 degree sound around the listener." Click here to watch embedded media The concept is awesome, but the beaming technology with zero obstruction of sound from the surrounding areas feels a little hard to believe, a concept that even CEO Christophe Ramstein agrees with. “The brain doesn’t understand what it doesn’t know,” he told the site.  He added, “You don’t believe it because it sounds like a speaker, but no one else can hear it…it’s supporting you and you’re in the middle of everything. It’s happening around you.” SoundBeamer also allows for a setting where the listener can have the music, podcast, etc follow them as they move, keeping the sounds in their head the way they are meant to be heard. The person that was able to demo the product also noticed that it was possible to hit blind spots with the beam, affectively cutting off all sound abruptly, making for a "surreal experience." “This is what we dream of,” added product manager Ayana Wallwater. “A world where we get the sound you want. You don’t need to disturb others and others don’t get disturbed by your sound. But you can still interact with them.” So why no headphones? What makes SoundBeamer so different? The CEO added, “I was thinking, ‘Yeah, but is it the same with headphones?’ No, because I have the freedom and it’s like I have the freedom of doing what I want to do. And I have these sounds playing in my head as there would be something happening here, which is difficult to explain because we have no reference for that. "You know, I was trying to think about how we compare sound beaming with any other inventions in history. And I think the only one that came to mind is… the first time I tried the iPod I was like, ‘Oh, my God. What’s that?’ I think sound beaming is something that is as disruptive as that. There’s something to be said about it that doesn’t exist before. There’s the freedom of using it. And it’s really amazing." The hope is to have this product in the hands of consumers no later than the holiday season of 2021. It will be interesting to see this product in full action with a demo that expected to go live sometime on Friday. So what do you think? Are you sold on the SoundBeamer 1.0, or do you want to keep your brain as-is? Creepy, or genius? You decide in the comment section below!  [Source: AP News] https://ift.tt/2ICrwn2

Yakuza: Like A Dragon Launch Trailer Is As Crazy As The Game Itself Liana Ruppert For those that aren't quite sold on the idea of a Yakuza game without Kiryu, try this Like a Dragon launch trailer on for size. It's crazy, it's upbeat, and it's essentially made out of pure, unfiltered hype.  In true Yakuza form, there are fights, there is crime family drama, and there are silly mini-games that offer much-needed levity. The below launch trailer has all of those familiar Yakuza themes, just with a new face front and center.  Check out the launch trailer before to ramp up those Yakuza hype levels:  Click here to watch embedded media Our own Jeff Cork gave the latest Yakuza game a 9.25 out of ten. While he's no Kiryu, Ichiban Kasuga is a pure-hearted little sweetheart that, unfortunately, was given the short-end of the stick thanks to a pretty hefty betrayal. You can learn more about our thoughts on Like a Dragon with our full review right here, with a small blurb seen below:  Like a Dragon is a departure from the games that came before it, but I found those changes to be revitalizing. As much as I enjoyed the Yakuza formula, it was definitely a formula. Like a Dragon has enough familiar elements to make it feel like, at its heart, it’s a Yakuza game. All the while, I fully appreciated how much of a new identity this entry is establishing. Here’s hoping this is the first step in yet another great journey for the series.    As for the game itself, Yakuza: Like a Dragon is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. You can learn even more about Kasuga-san's journey with our dedicated game hub here.  https://ift.tt/3nhcRgg

Watch Tennis Star Naomi Osaka Play Resident Evil Village Marcus Stewart Sony is no stranger to buddying up with celebrities to sell consoles, what with its recent partnership with Travis Scott. This time the company taps tennis star Naomi Osaka to help promote the PlayStation 5. It's a pleasant ad that does it's job of helping sell the upcoming console, but the real treat is getting a surprising look at Resident Evil Village gameplay.  The video sits down with the likable Osaka as she discusses her history with video games, her favorites like Overwatch and Apex Legends, and how games help her relieve stress during tennis competitions. After swinging around Harlem in Spider-Man: Miles Morales for a bit, she switches over to the highly-anticipated Resident Evil Village.  Click here to watch embedded media We see clips of her exploring the titular snowy village, including jumping down shanty house rooftops. The clip even shows off one of the werewolf-like enemies stalking Osaka. Seeing it in action, the game definitely looks like a fusion of Resident Evil 7’s design with Resident Evil 4’s aesthetic. Thankfully, the video does a good job of cutting away from the jump scares so as to not totally spoil them. Of course, if you want to go into Resident Evil Village completely blind, you probably shouldn’t watch this. Still, while it's not the deepest look at the game (which shouldn't surprise anyone) it's more than you'd probably expect from an ad like this.  Resident Evil Village is the eighth mainline entry in the series, picking up a few years after the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Players once again control Ethan Winters, and the game features the return of Chris Redfield. Village offers a thematic departure for the series by centering on witchcraft and folklore rather than zombies and bioweapons; as far as we can tell at least. The game is slated to arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S (and maybe last-gen consoles) in 2021. https://ift.tt/36j4kmc

Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster Finally Revealed With Legendary Edition Liana Ruppert Garrus, we are coming for you! After years of fans begging and more leaks than we can keep track of, BioWare has finally confirmed that the Mass Effect Trilogy remaster is real and it's here! Here's our first look at the Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Whether you're Team Garrus or a fan of the blueberry variety with Liara, all of our favs are coming back with an updated version. The remaster brings the iconic trilogy to current-gen alongside all of the DLC and modernized upgrades. Yeah, that means no more weird wooden teeth from Williams in the first game.  Your choices. Your squad. Your Shepard. Relive the legend in a remastered edition of the highly acclaimed trilogy. Mass Effect Legendary Edition arrives Spring 2021.https://t.co/jLUj8FUGaI pic.twitter.com/vxTKyq4LQ1 — BioWare (@bioware) November 7, 2020 The Mass Effect Trilogy introduced us to Commander Shepard and changed the world of sci-fi RPGs for many. This is my personal favorite franchise of all time, with over 30 playthroughs, all of the collectibles, replicas, comics, books, and pretty much anything else I can get my hand on. BioWare tells fans:  For many months now, our team at BioWare has been hard at work updating the textures, shaders, models, effects, and technical features of three enormous games. Our goal was not to remake or reimagine the original games, but to modernize the experience so that fans and new players can experience the original work in its best possible form. It’s been amazing to see the adventures of Commander Shepard take on new life in super-sharp resolution, faster framerates, and beautiful visual enhancements. As game developers, we always hope that our games will transcend their original platforms. Having the opportunity to remaster the trilogy means that the fruits of a decade of our work will live on, and will be experienced better and clearer than ever before. This franchise made us feel powerful at times, defeated in others, and heartbroken for those that got overly attached to their Love Interests. With characters that feel like family and a world that feels like home, bringing this beloved series into this generation is an amazing second lease on life and hopefully a solid first step for the eventual return to space.  I'm always so surprised when I hear someone missed out on this galactic experience, so if that's you? Definitely scoop up the remaster. While the first one had a few pacing issues right out of the gate, once it met its stride it was unforgettable. The series truly met its crest with Mass Effect 2 with the fight against the Collectors, truly showcasing the incredible talent of BioWare and their knack for making us fall in love with any type of character.  Mass Effect Legendary Edition will include single-player base content and DLC from Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3, plus promo weapons, armors, and packs – all remastered and optimized for 4k Ultra HD. It will be available in Spring 2021 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, with forward compatibility and targeted enhancements on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. More information to come in the new year! So give us that alien booty and lets kick some Reaper butt, because the Mass Effect Trilogy Legendary remaster is coming Spring 2021 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC with forward compatibility for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X fans!  https://ift.tt/2IhFF9F

Nolan North Reveals New Uncharted Movie Pictures, Tells Us A Little About Recent Visit Liana Ruppert Click to watch embedded media The man behind Nathan Drake himself, Nolan North, recently met Nolan North himself, Tom Holland, during a previous Uncharted movie set visit. Back in October, North shared a few images from his time on set and now we've got two new sneak peeks into the world of this adaptation.  Nolan North voiced the iconic PlayStation character for years and helped bring a beloved narrative to life by essentially becoming Nathan Drake. Spider-Man's Tom Holland will now be carrying on that torch into film playing a much younger Drake for an interesting origins-style tale about one of our favorite heroes.  Speaking with Game Informer, we just had to know what has him the most excited about the film, especially now that he's gotten to see some behind-the-scenes action. "I'm probably most excited to enjoy an Uncharted adventure as a fan just like everyone else," North tells us. "From what I've seen, they've really stayed true to the fun-filled adventure style that the games brought to life so well."  Retro Replay Rather than directly adapting the games, the upcoming film will feature an early 20's Drake as fans get to see how he became the great adventurer we know today. When asked if this movie will help fans understand such a beloved iconic even more, North says that he really thinks so. "It was such a great idea to reveal Drake's adventures in his 20's rather than rehash an existing storyline that fans have already played." The actor adds, "I know I'm excited to see what they have in store for all of us. We'll get to see and know Nate in a new and different way."  Regarding his recent set visit, an experience fans got a special glimpse of back in October, North says that the meeting of the Drakes was a special moment. "I was so honored to meet the cast and crew. The fact that they wanted to acknowledge my past involvement with the series meant a lot to me. I can't wait to sit in a theater and watch how cool I was in my twenties," he laughs.  Retro Replay Following the reveal of what Tom Hollands looks like actually suited up (no, not that suit), fan perception regarding another video game adaptation did an almost complete 180. Many initial-doubters could see Drake's strength within Holland, and it really seemed to assuage worries about the upcoming origins tale.  North also shared with us the two images seen above, images that were also revealed during a recent episode of his show Retro Replay.  Fans will get to see Holland kick butt as Nathan Drake when the Uncharted movie makes its debut in March 2021, pending no further delays due to COVID-19's continued spread.  https://ift.tt/2I2yFNV

Worms Rumble Cross-Play Beta Weekend Begins Today Daniel Tack Did you know that the Worms franchise was coming back? Team17's rambunctious take on the classic artillery-style game is scheduled to launch in just three weeks, but you can get in the beta this weekend and enjoy the action until Monday. Worms Rumble is launching on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC on December 1st, but you can play in the weekend beta on PS4 and Steam. The beta is free on Steam, or obtainable via PlayStation Plus. This open beta session includes a new map to play on, Transforming Towers. The aptly named arena features a giant tower that transforms into a giant robo-worm, because why not? You can also play in several different game modes, from traditional Deathmatch to battle royale options such as Last Worm Standing or Last Squad Standing. If you've never played a Worms title, it has its roots all the way back in the DOS era of gaming, where tanks or other creatures would input trajectory commands and fire shells or other objects at each other over vast distances, attempting to knock each other out. The so-called artillery genre has expanded and while still quite niche, has had several standout franchises spawn out of its roots, one being the Worms series. While I've played many hours of Worms titles huddled around a PC as we did "hot seat" swapping and hurling Holy Hand Grenades at each other, I miss Gunbound more than ever these days. Please come back, Gunbound. Please. Anyway, in this beta session you can play with up to 32 players with a bunch of wild weaponry. Sheep Launchers. Plasma Blasters. Sentry Turrets. Something called a Hammerhead, which might actually be a shark knowing the Worms games. And of course, moving around the terrain is an important method to get your worms in place to land their shots, so you can use grappling hooks, jet packs, and more. Finally, you can get cosmetics like hats and skins for your little worms too. New Battlefield Game Expected To Hit Holiday 2021 Daniel Tack During today's fiscal year 2021 Q2 Electronic Arts report, the company revealed that a new Battlefield game is on the way, and it's actually not that far away. According to prepare remarks in the EA report, the next game in the Battlefield franchise arrives holiday season next year — and we'll have much more information about it next spring. From the prepared remarks portion of the earnings report from Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson: "DICE is creating our next Battlefield game with never-before-seen scale. The technical advancements of the new consoles are allowing the team to deliver on a true next-gen vision for the franchise. We have hands-on play testing underway internally, and the team’s been getting very positive feedback on the game as we’ve begun to engage our community." Game Informer scored the previous title, Battlefield 5, with a solid 8. "Battlefield V is a good, if safe game that feels more iterative than innovative. Its legacy will likely be defined by how steady and interesting the stream of new content is moving forward." Check out the entire review here. What form the next Battlefield game takes is a great question, especially since it seems that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is attempting to eat some of Battlefield's lunch with its new Combined Arms offerings, allowing players to do battle with a deluge of vehicles on the sea, in the air, and on the ground. One big question as we look to next year and the new Battlefield experience — is this the moment where Battlefield goes big time battle royale alongside a traditional title? Battlefield V's Firestorm attempted this to some extent, but there may still be room for another giant-size battle free-to-play battle royale out there. Some may think that the F2P battle royale scene is finally too bloated with massive games like Apex Legends, Fortnite, and of course the highly relevant more direct competitor Call of Duty: Warzone, but the success of the latter has inevitably come up in plenty of conversation over at EA and DICE. What do you expect to see in the next Battlefield title? A return to form? Something brave and bold? A free-to-play battle royale experience as a standalone entity alongside a traditional entry? Let us know in the comments!  https://ift.tt/2IdpdGT

Here's How Call Of Duty: Warzone Works In A Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War World Daniel Tack Since the reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, we've been wondering — just how would the new game work with Call of Duty: Warzone, the free-to-play battle royale offering injected with tons of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare trappings? As of today, we finally have a good idea on how integration is going to work. The result is that Warzone essentially stays its own game, and will be direct fed from both Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War, in terms of player progression. Yep, it's pretty wild. Activision breaks it all down in a lengthy blog post today, but lets go over the important points here. Players are already used to working on progression in both Modern Warfare and Warzone at the same time. With the launch of Black Ops Cold War, you have a unified progression path that you can feed into across all three titles. This image makes it simple to visualize. While your rank will be reset in the name of this unified progression path, don't worry — everything you've unlocked stays unlocked. Think that's cool? You haven't seen anything yet. Here's where things get really interesting. You'll be able to use weapons from both Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War in the Warzone, making it a massive overall armory to draw from. This means you'll have access to everything you've unlocked as primaries and secondaries in both games on deck, including blueprint configurations and attachments. This means for some weapons that are staples in Call of Duty and shooters in general like the AK, you may have two different versions (one from each game) to draw upon! While both armories feed into Warzone which is quite exciting, you won't be able to take arsenals from Modern Warfare to Black Ops Cold War or vice versa. Oh well! Next up, Operators. We've all got our favorites unlocked, right? Well don't worry, you don't have to give up Price. All of the current operator roster remains, plus any operators you unlock in Modern Warfare or Black Ops Cold War. It's going to be a real crowded cast in the Warzone, and I can't wait to see Russell Adlers take on Prices in battle for the ultimate Warzone badass.  New battle pass and seasonal content begins on December 10, and will be tied to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The Call of Duty suite offers cross-gen and cross-platform play. Check out some of our multiplayer experiences with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War here. https://ift.tt/3k3DGme

1UP Is A Video Game Comedy About Women In eSports And Gamergate Marcus Stewart Video game films are largely regulated to pure adaptations of existing games. Once in a while, though, you get films like 1UP, which uses gaming as a backdrop to tell a more personable story. The underdog comedy begins production this winter and centers on women in eSports, and the sexism that often surround it.  Per The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming film stars Paris Berelc (Hubie Halloween, Alexa & Katie) as Vivian Lee, an eSports player who quits her college team after enduring sexist behavior from her male teammates. At the risk of losing her scholarship, though, she’s forced to assemble her own team led by an “enigmatic coach” played by Ellen Page (The Umbrella Academy, Juno).  The film is the first production by BuzzFeed Studios and is directed by Kyle Newman (Fanboys, Barely Lethal). The fledgling studio aims to produce “socially relevant and high-concept films” aimed squarely at millennial and Gen Z audiences. 1UP’s script has been described as “being in the vein of Pitch Perfect but set in the world of eSports with a Gamergate backdrop”.  Yes, 1UP is an easy concept to groan at, but there’s definitely a good idea in there somewhere. It’d be genuinely cool to see a well-made film tackling the social minefield women players navigate in eSports while being humorous at the same time. Now, making a comedy that handles the decidedly-not-funny Gamergate movement in a not-clumsy way...that I’m less sure about. Time will tell (no release window is given for the film), but perhaps if BuzzFeed Studios follows the examples set by a great video game movie – like, say, Mortal Kombat – 1UP could have a shot. What do you think of 1UP? Share your thoughts in the comments but try to keep it respectable, okay?  [Source: The Hollywood Reporter] https://ift.tt/3jL8Yhk

Gears 5 Update Let's Recast Marcus Fenix As Batista Marcus Stewart Click here to watch embedded media The Coalition announced a slew of big changes coming to Gears 5 when it arrives on Xbox Series X. On top of performance enhancements and new modes, the campaign gets a lot more animalistic with the inclusion of ex-WWE world champ and guardian of the galaxy, Dave Bautista. After appearing as a multiplayer skin in the original version, players can now swap Marcus Fenix with Big Dave for the entire campaign. More than just a palette swap, Bautista even recorded new dialogue for the story. It should be stressed again that Bautista is not replacing Marcus Fenix in the campaign permanently. The switch is 100% optional.  The news should serve as a fun treat to Dave’s fanbase, as well as the big guy himself. The actor lobbied hard on social media last summer to portray Marcus Fenix in a Gears of War film, garnering a groundswell of support. That didn’t pan out (unfortunately) but this is arguably better. At least he gets to be Fenix in the medium the character originated from.  A new Game + brings new difficulty modes, character/weapon skins, additional achievements. For next-gen versions, look forward to 60 fps cutscenes and a 120 fps Versus mode. That’s on top of the 4K HDR, faster load times, and instant resume perks highlighted in earlier announcements. Combine all of this with an upcoming story expansion slated for fall, and Gears 5 has a busy holiday season ahead. For more on Gears 5, check out Andrew Reiner’s positive review of the base game. Ghost Of Tsushima Legends Raids Offer Magic, Strategy, And The Potential For Perfect Trolling Liana Ruppert Click to watch embedded media Ghost of Tsushima was an incredibly harrowing samurai tale that PlayStation 4 players fell in love with. Now, a new experience arrives with Legends, bringing with it exciting new content and ways to become one with the ways of the ghost. Legends is the first major content drop for the Sucker Punch tale and it comes bringing with it New Game+ and several memorable co-op experiences. One of the newest features on the way is that of raids and this addition is unforgiving, detailed, and offers the perfect chance to troll your fellow player.  We sat down with Ghost of Tsushima's creative director Nate Fox alongside senior staff designer Darren Bridges to talk a little more about the Legends update, but it is when the topic of raids comes up that we realize how much fun this addition can potentially be.  Like many other co-op games that offer a raid feature, there will be challenges galore. Complex puzzles, specific mechanics, and a persistent demand for teamwork will all be readily available. Like many raids, teamwork is key. This isn't a run and slash co-op mission, this is a lengthy experience that requires communication, dedication, and expert use of skill.  "The raid is where we crank the dial up to 11," Bridges tells us. "You have to come to the raid with a team of four players, you have to have four players to complete it. Players have to work together, it's not an option. When you're in the raid, you'll need to coordinate very carefully. You can't just all go do your own thing, you have to work together as a team." With added mechanics like complicated puzzles, that teamwork will be crucial, especially when dealing with changing modifiers that up the challenge level. If a team of four isn't coordinated, the overall raid can be a complete disaster. "This raid is designed to really test you in every single way."  When taking to the various co-op experiences in Legends, including the raid, players will take on various roles, which allows for a more tailored experience. It also allows for players to goof off, crack down, or just overall find a new way to feel the experience Tsushima is meant to offer.  When speaking with both Bridges and Fox, I joked about how I'm always the sort of "wild card" in raids, especially in games like Destiny 2, with how I like to mess with my squad. Pushing them off of cliffs, emoting in their faces; I'm all for it. When discussing the various ways that a raid can go hilariously wrong, the senior designer did laugh and say that there are definitely opportunities for players to troll one another in an otherwise super serious instance.  "With great power comes great responsibility," Bridges jokes. "We knew the moment we said to our players 'Look, this requires everyone to be working together,' that just means that it's more freedom for someone to mess up their friends. With the raid, we put everyone's life in your hands, in everyone's hands, so don't go in with someone you don't trust."  Fox jokingly adds, "You've taught that lesson to me many times, Darren." Whether playing to be the best of the best, or just using the raid as a good chance to bond with pals, this is just one of the many features that makes Ghost of Tsushima: Legends an incredible addition to an already phenomenal experience.  https://ift.tt/34Whpkw

Where Is Our NHL 21 Review? Kimberley Wallace The embargo is up, and NHl 21 is officially available. We've spent a considerable amount of time with the game, testing the upgraded Be A Pro mode, new dekes, and HUT Rush. However, we're not quite ready to deliver a review due to needing more time with the online components and the NHL 94 Rewind mode, which became available today. With the player pool so low due to the game not being officially out, it was not easy to always find opponents to test out these features, especially those in World of CHEL. Discovering strengths and weaknesses of the online gameplay takes more than few matches, so we'd like some more time on the ice before making our final decision.  After we put the online modes through their paces, we hope to have a full review up later today. In the mean time, here's some overall impressions based on our time to help you in deciding if NHL 21 is right for you. NHL 21 doesn't move the needle much in terms of what it provided last year. There are minor tweaks and some additions to modes (with varying degrees of success), but it won't feel like a fundamentally different experience like when we experienced the new skating two years back. Across all modes, I had some frustration with the A.I., whether it was their hesitation with getting the puck out of the defensive zone, or defensiveman acting like they're forwards in EASHL. That being said, the A.I. does seem better at poke checking, taking players off the puck, and recognizing when to come over and help with board battles. The mode that got the biggest facelift was Be A Pro, which desperately needed new lifeblood after being mostly neglected the past few years. My thoughts from my previous preview stand. It is rough around the edges, but a good foundation for EA Vancouver to build off going forward. Dialogue choices are a bit too extreme, your assessments are at times inconsistent based on your contributions, and your interactions with teammates and your agent are very dry and boring. That being said, I like how you're tasked with different challenges based on how the game is playing out, and carve your own path to recognition both on and off the ice.  The new HUT Rush mode offers fast, bite-sized games and rewards your prowess at pulling off fancy, stylish moves. When you score with a fantasy roster created in Ultimate Team, you get multipliers up to 5x on the last three skills you used, for a maximum of a 15x multiplier on a goal. It’s all about finding the best combos to get the highest score. This mode feels more geared toward advanced players, who enjoy pulling off difficult dekes and can do so with ease. It's not my thing, as I play a very simple hockey game, but I can see how earning rewards and adding new players to your roster to compete in a skills competition is sure to entice others.  To sum everything up, what you love about past games can be found here, but there's not big, sweeping changes to the formula. It comes down to if updated rosters and a few new additions will be worth the price of admission. With the real NHL not coming back until January, it just might be the only way to get your hockey fix for some time.  https://ift.tt/355uXua

Bungie Reveals Next-Gen Destiny 2 Dates And Details Matt Miller Bungie today shared new details about what players can expect to experience with Destiny 2 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. And, equally important, we learned about when major features are coming online for next-gen console players. While Destiny 2 will be available on next-gen platforms beginning on November 10, several of the new enhancements on those systems will not release until December 8. At console launch, players can expect to see both faster load times and cross-generation play within console families (PS5 with PS4, and Xbox Series X/S with Xbox One). The better load times will be a particularly enticing feature for many console players, as it means not only shorter waits to fly into places like the Tower, but also faster loading of inventory information, such as when you hover over a particular equipment slot in your character sheet – a problem that has plagued current-gen console players for a long time. Meanwhile, several other features are going to take a bit more time before they go online, and won’t arrive until December 8, including 4K resolution (on PS5 and Xbox Series X, but not on Xbox Series S), 60fps framerate, and a newly announced field of view slider, a feature that aims to be similar to the same option already on PC. Upgrading to the next-gen version of Destiny 2 is free on PlayStation 5, and on Xbox Series X/S through Xbox Smart Delivery. Console players who were eager to play the next expansion, Beyond Light, and get the full 4K and 60fps experience right away at expansion launch may be frustrated that the full suite of capabilities won’t be online right away. On the other hand, cross-generational play at launch is a huge deal, ensuring that clans and other friend groups will be able to keep playing together, no matter who has the money to upgrade their system. Check out the full rundown about next-gen features on Bungie's site.  https://ift.tt/3dyaZfi

Kojima Productions' Yoji Shinkawa Released Gorgeous Art For The Last Of Us Day 2020 Brian Shea Earlier this week, The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog announced that in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was renaming its annual "Outbreak Day" (the date where the deadly fungal infection hit critical mass in the Last of Us universe) to "The Last of Us Day." While the date has grim meaning in the world of Joel and Ellie, in our world, September 26 has been used by Naughty Dog and its community to celebrate the franchise. As part of this year's celebration, Kojima Productions' renowned artist Yoji Shinkawa, best known for his work on the Metal Gear franchise and Death Stranding, released a stunning piece. You can see his art above, and if you like it enough to want to make it your wallpaper you can download the full-resolution version, formatted for either your phone or desktop, here. In addition to Shinkawa's piece, Mondo has announced new The Last of Us Part II posters featuring Ellie and Abby, as well as a special vinyl soundtrack release. Naughty Dog was also busy in its preparations, creating a new dynamic theme featuring the game's beach, a cosplay guide for Abby, and even a ton of hilarious reaction GIFs featuring the characters of the games. Other highlights from The Last of Us Day 2020 include the previously announced board game being in development, new merchandise in the PlayStation Gear Store, new clothes from Graph, and new statues from Gaming Heads and Mamegyorai. Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Trailer Brings Out The Familiar Faces Brian Shea While we eagerly await news for the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel, Nintendo announced earlier this month that it's delivering a prequel story in the form of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Set 100 years before the events of Breath of the Wild, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity tells the story of the conflict that put Hyrule in the desperate state you experienced in the 2017 hit.  Today, Nintendo released a new trailer showcasing some of the familiar faces you'll be taking into battle in Age of Calamity. Check out the action-packed trailer starring Link, Zelda, and the Champions below. Click here to watch embedded media On top of that, we finally got to see young Impa. You may recall her being much, much older in Breath of the Wild, but in Age of Calamity, she's in her fighting prime, bringing her unique abilities as a royal advisor and a member of the Sheikah to the battle against Calamity Ganon's evil forces. Click image thumbnails to view larger version                                                                                                                The trailer closes with news that players who pre-order the game digitally receive the Lucky Ladle as an in-game weapon. Those who have save data from the Legend of Zelda: Breath of Wild on their Switch will receive the Training Sword as an in-game weapon. The trailer states that both of these could be released as paid DLC down the line. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity launches November 20 exclusively on Switch. https://ift.tt/337jSJw

Kirby Fighters 2 Announced And Released Brian Shea Kirby is among Nintendo's most versatile characters thanks to his ability to copy movesets. While HAL's beloved pink puff has been been in Super Smash Bros. since the series' inception, Nintendo is bringing back the Kirby Fighters series, which debuted in 2014 on 3DS as a part of Kirby: Triple Deluxe. This standalone entry comes to Switch with a variety of new modes and features. Kirby Fighters 2 lets you play in single-handed mode, where you try to get the best possible clear time in a series of solo battles, and multiplayer, where up to four players can battle it out locally on the same Switch, locally on the same network, or online through Nintendo Switch Online with customizable rulesets. Kirby Fighters 2 also delivers a story mode, where you fight alongside a human- or A.I.-controlled companion to scale the tower, choose from items to help between rounds, and defeat King Dedede and Meta Knight's challenges. The items offer buffs to stats, your health, and more.  In addition to the new Wrestler moveset, players can play as a variety of classic Kirby styles including Sword, Beam, Artist, Yo-Yo, Water, and more. In addition, if you'd rather not play as Kirby, you can select from some of his most well-known adversaries like Banana Waddle Dee, King Dedede, Meta Knight, and others. Between Kirby's various movesets and the other playable characters, you can choose between a total of 22 different fighting styles. Kirby Fighters 2 is available now for Switch. https://ift.tt/3kN9AEl
