    Risk of Rain 2 Launches Today Daniel Tack Risk of Rain 2 got its 1.0 patch today, which includes some significant additions to the game. With its launch, Risk of Rain 2 adds a new character, a new stage, and a final boss. Of course, there are a ton of new items and powerups and the like to go along with those major additions. So go forth and conquer! Bring a few friends to amp up the action, and try to make the most broken builds you can as you take on varied challenges.     Chipotle Announces The Tony Hawk Burrito Daniel Tack Chipotle surprised the world today by announcing the Tony Hawk Burrito. What exactly goes into a Tony Hawk burrito, you ask? Brown rice, black beans, chicken, salsa, cheese, and guacamole make up the totally rad skating meal. The first 2000 fans to order the Tony Hawk Burrito get access to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 and 2 Warehouse Demo on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC. Lunch and video games? Seems too good to be true! The special burrito will be available to order via the app and online until August 14, so it's a limited-time special.     President Trump Orders Ban On Transactions With Tencent Brian Shea Following through with previously expressed privacy concerns, United States President Donald Trump has signed two executive orders that would ban Americans from completing transactions with Chinese conglomerate Tencent and Chinese company ByteDance. While the executive orders were signed with Tencent's messaging app WeChat and ByteDance's social video app TikTok in mind, the unspecified bans, once they are defined, could potentially have far-reaching implications for the video game industry; Tencent either fully owns or holds large stakes in multiple high-profile video game developers and publishers. According to the orders, United States Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross has 45 days to define the banned transactions, at which point they will go into effect. The wording in the executive order is currently vague, meaning the bans could only affect the aforementioned apps, or they could have a broader reach into other applications in the iOS App Store, Google Play, or even beyond. In addition to full ownership of League of Legends and Valorant developer Riot Games and Mutant Year Zero and Conan Exiles publisher Funcom, Tencent holds major stakes in Path of Exile developer Grinding Gear Games, Clash of Clans and Clash Royale developer Supercell, and a 40-percent stake in Fortnite and Unreal Engine developer Epic Games. It's brought some significant changes to the battle-royale mode, most notably drenching the map with waters that have been slowly receding over the past several weeks. It's just about back to its pre-flood state, which means there's finally enough land to support another big addition: driving! Epic has confirmed that the JoyRide update will be coming to the game on August 5, which adds the long-awaited ability to drive cars. https://twitter.com/FortniteGame/status/1290391994842324992 Sure, the game has featured a variety of four-wheeled vehicles over the years, but aside from shopping carts, golf carts, and quadcrasher ATVs, they've only been a resource for metal. You don't have to wait for either of those games to release to get your fix. Easy Day Studios' Skater XL hits this Tuesday. Game Informer won't have a review ready, but we will bring you early impressions to let you know if it's worth your time.   The week ahead also sees the releases of Destroy All Humans, Grounded, Yakuza Kiwami 2, and Hellpoint. Destroy All Humans is the classic revival of a PlayStation 2 game that lets you terrorize humanity as a space-faring alien. Grounded is the next game from Obsidian Entertainment that sees you exploring a backyard as a microscopic human. Yakuza needs no real introduction.     Pokémon Go Fest Kicks Off Today! Andrew Reiner Niantic's annual Pokémon Go Fest isn't in Chicago this year. It's now worldwide, allowing anyone to play. The event is today and tomorrow, and kicks off at 10 a.m. (in your time zone) and runs until 8 p.m. each day. To participate in the fest, you'll need to purchase an in-game ticket for $14.99. You can play on both days once it is purchased. In previous years, players would walk through a Chicago park to different habitats where Pokémon specific to that region would spawn. For this fest, you don't have to walk anywhere to reach a new habitat. They now rotate every hour. Here's the breakdown: 10 a.m. 11 a.m. – Battle zone 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Friendship zone 12. p.m. to 1 p.m. – Fire zone 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. – Water zone 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. – Grass zone 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. – Battle zone 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Friendship zone 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. – Fire zone 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Water zone 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. – Grass zone What Pokémon and shiny variations can you expect to see? We don't want to spoil the surprise for you, but if you want to know early, Reddit user SilphScience has assembled a complete list. I will say Unown is back, and you can do five-star raids against Kyogre, Kyurem, and Groudon. Special Research tasks are not as elaborate as in years past. It received an expansion in 2013, and since then the whole package has been ported several times, giving new players plenty of chances to give it a shot. Though devout fans (like me) have been hoping for a sequel announcement, Netflix may have just given us the next best thing. The streaming company revealed on Twitter that an animated adaptation of Dragon's Dogma is on its way, debuting on September 17. The mode is widely criticized across all of EA Sports' titles for its reliance on microtransactions and luck-based acquisition mechanics.     Stardew Valley's Next Update Will Add More End-Game Content Andrew Reiner Stardew Valley has sold over 10 million copies since it launched in 2016, and developer Eric Barone continues to add new content to it, giving players plenty of reason to keep returning to their farms. The latest update (which Barone calls 1.5) is currently in development. Barone says progress is being made, and that this update adds a "significant new piece of end-game content." In an image shared on Twitter, Barone teases one of the update's additions, which just happens to be a new door in Willy's fish shop. In the game now, the door is a ladder.     Evo Online Has Been Canceled Andrew Reiner Evo 2020 has been canceled following allegations of sexual misconduct made against Evo CEO Joey Cuellar, who was placed on administrative leave earlier in the day, and is now being relieved of all responsibilities with the company and tournament. Early this morning, Evo released a statement saying "The behavior in these accusations runs directly counter to Evo's mission of building a safe, welcoming environment for all of our players and attendees." Over the course of the day, commentators James Chen and Maximillian Dood tweeted that they would no longer be a part of this year's tournament. Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Tekken, and other games were also pulled by the developers and publishers behind them. NetherRealm, the studio behind the Mortal Kombat games, said "We stand in solidarity with those who have spoken out against abuse. We will be pulling MK11 from EVO Online." Over 1,300 people signed up to compete in this year's tournament, which would be held online due to the ongoing pandemic. Anyone who purchased a badge will be refunded.     The Mandalorian's Story Will Continue In Books And Comics Andrew Reiner A successful Star Wars story is bound to expand into books and comics, and it's now happening to The Mandalorian, the hit show that launched on Disney+ last year. Six Mandalorian books were announced on the official Star Wars site, the most exciting of which is an untitled original adult novel written by Adam Christopher and published by Del Ray. For more insight into the visual style of the show, fans can look forward to The Art of the Mandalorian book by Phil Szostak, as well as The Mandalorian: The Ultimate Visual Guide by Pablo Hidalgo. Other books include an untitled junior novelization by Joe Schreiber, and a level-two reader book called The Mandalorian: Allies & Enemies by Brooke Vitale, who is also penning an untitled 8x8 storybook based on the series. There's even going to be A Little Golden Book that recaps season one. Marvel Comics and IDW Publishing are both making Mandalorian comic books. No specific release dates were given for any individual book, but some will hit in the fall (likely around the launch of season two), and others will roll out in the winter and spring.     Dr. Mario World Reintroduces Everyone To Baby Wario Brian Shea While Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Baby Peach, Baby Daisy, and even Baby Rosalina have appeared recently in games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Mario Kart World Tour, Baby Wario has been left in the dust since his sole appearance in 2006's Yoshi's Island DS. Now, the developers behind Dr. Mario World have announced that Baby Wario is back in the spotlight in the form of Dr. Baby Wario to kick off Season 3 of the mobile puzzle game. Season 3 of Dr. Mario World will let players advance to tier 9 at 3,600 battle points, at which point Whomp King will appear in battle boxes. In addition, new stages will be added.
