Sonic Movie Director Vows To Fix Hedgehog Design Imran Khan The other day, Paramount and Sega finally showed off the first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog, a live-action/CG movie starring James Marsden, Ben Schwartz, and Jim Carrey. The reaction to the trailer was not...great. Besides all of the other extremely questionable choices about it, Sonic's design, which appeared to be like some kind of blue fur-person and less like a walking, talking cartoon character, raised a lot of concerns with fans. Those concerns have been heard by the movie's director, Jeff Fowler. In a tweet, Fowler acknowledged the furor over the design and promised that they would make changes to it. Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear... you aren't happy with the design & you want changes. It's going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be... #sonicmovie #gottafixfast 🔧✌️ — Jeff Fowler (@fowltown) May 2, 2019 What exactly these changes will be is not clear, but it is probably easier to fix Sonic's design in post-production than it would be if you had a problem with a physical actor in a scene. Sonic can likely be fixed before the film's release in November depending on what they believe the actual problem to be. It's not unfair to note that they thought this design was perfectly fine before people reacted to it. We tried to fix the Sonic the Hedgehog trailer ourselves with our own edits to it. Maybe they could consider our work as inspiration. http://bit.ly/2UWBH6D
